Syracuse University will hold a reception in honor of Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw and Associate to the Chancellor Mary Ann Shaw on April 15 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. in the Schine Student Center's Goldstein Auditorium. The farewell reception will be the main University event marking the Shaws' retirement. The free event is open to SU faculty, staff, students and alumni.

The program will include remarks from Chairman of the Board of Trustees Joseph O. Lampe and Chairman-Elect John Couri; a video presentation of the Shaws' years at SU; a vocal performance by Rodney Hudson, assistant professor in the College of Visual and Performing Arts; and the presentation of a special gift to the Shaws honoring their contributions to the University and the Central New York community. The event will be recorded and video will be available for viewing beginning April 16 at http://emc.syr.edu/tour/webcast/main.html.

Kenneth A. Shaw, SU's 10th Chancellor, came to SU in 1991 from the University of Wisconsin. He directed the most extensive restructuring process in SU's history. At the same time, he reinforced its vision to become the nation's leading student-centered research university. The result has been significant growth in national reputation and rankings, increased quality of each new class of students and a renewed sense of purpose and commitment on campus. Nancy Cantor, chancellor of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, will begin as SU's 11th Chancellor in August.
