The state of local innovation will be the focus of the of the first annual "Corporate Innovation in Central New York" conference, April 15, at the Marx Conference Center in Syracuse. The conference, held from 9 a.m.-2 p.m., is presented by the Earl V. Snyder Innovation Management Center in Syracuse University's Martin J. Whitman School of Management, in cooperation with CNY MedTech.
Chancellor and President Nancy Cantor, Whitman School Dean Melvin T. Stith and Central New York industry leaders and academics representing Welch Allyn, Sensis Corp. and Syracuse Research will share their expertise on managing the challenges and opportunities in product and process innovations, offer a prescription for "best practices" for corporate innovation and provide their insights into how the Central New York region can become a hub for innovation.
The conference will identify areas in which the resources of industry and academia can come together to examine and address the most significant hurdles to innovation facing companies in the region. Participants will interact freely with the speakers in a panel discussion and question-and-answer sessions.
Preparing managers for a very different competitive environment is the goal of the Snyder Innovation Management Program. The curriculum focuses on what managers need to know in order to create organizations that value innovation, entrepreneurship, continuous learning and customer satisfaction. Translating these values into daily action enables companies to attain market, technological and industry leadership.
