Glimmerglass Opera will celebrate its 30th season with a visit by members of its acclaimed Young American Artist Program to Syracuse University for a performance on April 26. The concert will take place at 8 p.m. in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College. It is free and open to the public.
The concert, called "Glimmerglass @ 30, an operatic celebration," is a part of a three-week tour across New York, and will be a retrospective of musical highlights. There will be semi-staged performance of arias and ensembles from many well-known operas, including Handel's "Orlando," Mozart's "Don Giovanni," "La Traviata," "The Magic Flute," "La Boheme" and "Rigoletto."
Glimmerglass Opera began in 1974 in Cooperstown, N.Y. with the goal of bringing opera to the community. A sister company to New York City Opera, it has since grown to international stature and now offers 43 performances of four operas, all in new productions, each season. Parking for the April 26 concert is available in Irving Garage.
