Jeffrie G. Murphy, Regents' Professor of law and philosophy at Arizona State University, will speak at Syracuse University's College of Law, April 14 at 11:30 a.m. Murphy, who is the College of Law's Kharas Distinguished Visiting Scholar, will give his lecture in 204 MacNaughton Hall. It is free and open to the public.
Author of nine books, Murphy is widely recognized as one of the most important contemporary experts on the philosophy of crime, punishment and forgiveness. His books include "Getting Even - Forgiveness and Its Limits;" "Kant: The Philosophy of Right;" "Forgiveness and Mercy," co-authored with Jean Hampton; and "Evolution, Morality and the Meaning of Life."
Murphy holds a BA in philosophy from John Hopkins University and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Rochester.
