South Korean ambassador to speak March 26

Kim Sam-hoon, South Korean ambassador to the United Nations, will give the fourth annual Ambassador Han Pyo Wook Lecture on Korean Affairs, March 26 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the Comstock Room on the second floor of the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel & Conference Center. He will speak on "The North Korean Nuclear Issue: Past, Present and Future."

The event is free and open to the public. Afterward, video of the lecture will be available for viewing at http://www.maxwell.syr.edu/ict/amb_han.asp.

Kim assumed his position in June 2003. Prior to that, he was the research commissioner of the Institute of Foreign Affairs and National Security in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.

Han, for whom the lecture is named, was the dean of the South Korean ambassadorial corps. He served as First Secretary and helped to establish the first South Korean embassy, which opened in Washington, D.C., in 1949. He died in August 2003.
