Michael Burkard, associate professor of English in Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences, will read from his works of poetry during the next installment of the Raymond Carver Reading Series on Feb. 12. The reading begins at 5:45 p.m. in Gifford Auditorium, located in Huntington Beard Crouse Hall.
Burkard is the author of nine collections of poetry, including "Pennsylvania Collection Agency," "Unsleeping," "Entire Dilemma" and "My Secret Boat." He has received prizes from The American Poetry Review and Pushcart Press, and fellowships from the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown, Mass., the National Endowment for the Arts and the New York State Foundation for the Arts. His poems appear in current or forthcoming issues of Jubilat, 3rd Bed and Verse. He teaches in SU's M.F.A. Creative Writing Program and at the Fine Arts Work Center in Provincetown.
