Syracuse University will celebrate National Orange Day on March 25, marking the University's 132nd birthday. National Orange Day is celebrated annually to mark the University's founding date, March 24, 1870.
The Crouse Chimes will ring out the alma mater at noon. In addition, all students, faculty, staff and alumni are invited to join the Orange Day celebration in the Schine Student Center Atrium. Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw will cut the first slice of birthday cake at 12:30 p.m.
Other National Orange Day events include the following:
? The Carrier Dome will be lit in orange on the evenings of March 24 (following the NCAA finals) and 25;
? The Niagara Mohawk Building in downtown Syracuse will be lit in orange on the evenings March 24 and 25;
? The Tennity Ice Skating Pavilion on South Campus will offer half-price admission on March 24 to anyone wearing orange;
? The SU flag will fly atop of the Empire State Building in Manhattan on March 25.
? The Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center will offer "Orange" lunch specials on March 25;
? Rachel's Restaurant, located within the Sheraton Syracuse University Hotel and Conference Center, will offer a 15 percent discount for lunch to anyone with an SU I.D. on March 25; and
? Alumni clubs around the nation will participate in community service projects.
