With the commencement of military action in Iraq, Syracuse University has launched a new Web site to serve as an information resource for the University community.

"Syracuse University Responds: War in Iraq" ( http://sunews.syr.edu/iraq/index.html ) features a message from Chancellor Kenneth A. Shaw and information on campus counseling and safety, state and federal resources, the USA PATRIOT Act and the University's Iraq forum series (including recorded Webcasts of the first five forums).

The site contains status reports on SU's domestic centers in New York City and Washington, D.C., and links to the sites of the Division of International Programs Abroad (for updates on students studying at SU's five overseas centers) and the Slutzker Center for International Services (offering information for international students studying at SU).

Also included are links to major news outlets and-for media-a listing of SU faculty experts on the Iraq situation, with sample commentary.

The site is easily accessible from the University home page ( www.syr.edu ) and the Syracuse University News page ( http://sunews.syr.edu ). It will be updated frequently with announcements and other new content as events unfold locally, nationally and overseas.
