March 18 is the registration deadline for students, faculty and staff who wish to present events as part of MayFest, the campus-wide celebration creativity, discovery, research and innovation. The Soling Program originated and is coordinating the effort.
According to Jim Spencer, Soling director and festival organizer, the broad selection of activities already planned-Syracuse International Film and Video Festival screenings, traditional Brazilian music on the Quad, virtual global forums and chemistry magic shows, to name just a few-invites participation by an even more diverse cross-section of the University community in this inaugural-year event.
For information or to register, visit http://mayfest.syr.edu. Spencer has also asked students, faculty and staff to consider volunteering during the festival. All kinds of help are welcome, from a few hours spent directing people around campus to a full day's worth of work at an event venue or information table. Potential volunteers are asked to contact the Soling office at 443-2426.
The May 4 events will be free and open to the public. More details will be announced in the coming weeks.
