Amy Wert, a graduate student at Syracuse University, will perform a conducting recital in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium on March 20. The concert will take place at 8 p.m; it is free and open to the public. The Setnor Auditorium is located in Crouse College.
Wert will conduct selections from Stravinsky's "Soldier's Tale Suite," Richard Strauss' "Serenade in E-flat major, opus 7," Mozart's "Serenade in C-minor" and Maurer's "Three Pieces," as well as selections from SU's First Year Players production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying."
Wert, originally from Melbourne, Australia, is on leave from the director of bands position at St. Joseph's College in Geelong, Australia. She has conducted for semi- and non-professional theater in Australia and was awarded the Victorian Theater Guild Award in 2001 for her musical direction of "Into the Woods." She is the first conducting major to present for recital in the Setnor School.
Parking is available in the Irving and University Avenue Garages. The concert can also be heard live on the Internet at http://vpa.syr.edu/schools/music/streaming/index.html.
