Fred Karpoff, associate professor in Syracuse University's Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, will perform a solo piano recital on March 16 at 8 p.m. The performance, which is part of the Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series, will take place in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium. Karpoff will play a selection of songs, including three "Etudes-tableaux" by Rachmaninoff, the "Gasteiner Sonata in D Major, D. 850" by Schubert and the "Piano Sonata" by Samuel Barber.
Karpoff, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, released a new CD of music called "Heroic Tales: Piano Music of Edward MacDowell" in December 2003 on the sonatabop.com label.
Karpoff has performed throughout the world, including in Germany, Luxembourg, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Ireland, Finland and Belgium. He has also performed closer to home, in Rutgers, N.J., New York City, Chicago, Skaneateles and Syracuse. A recipient of numerous piano awards, Karpoff is a former artistic ambassador for the United States Information Agency.
This recital, like all Setnor Tuesday Concerts, is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Irving Garage.
