The Department of Religion in Syracuse University's College of Arts and Sciences will host a film screening of "A Conversation with Huston Smith: The Wisdom of Faith" followed by a panel discussion on Friday, Feb. 25 from 10:30-noon in the 1916 Room of E.S Bird Library. The event is free and open to the public; pay parking for the public is available in the Comstock and Waverly visitor lots.
The event will consist of a 20-minute film viewing of "The Wisdom of Faith" a PBS-special aired in 1996. The series features renowned religion scholar Huston Smith, who was a member of SU's religion faculty from 1973-84, being interviewed by Bill Moyers on various aspects of his personal philosophy.
Following the screening, there will be a panel discussion including James Wiggins, professor emeritus of religion and director of the InterReligious Council of Central New York; James Botsford, G'78, director of the Indian Law office of Wisconsin Judicare; and John Caputo, the Thomas J. Watson Professor of Religion and the Humanities. Smith will be the respondent.
