The Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs will host two information sessions on the Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program sponsored by the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA).
The information sessions will be held at 4 p.m. Feb. 28 in Room 232 of the Schine Student Center, and at noon March 2 in Room 302 of Steele Hall.
The Minority Undergraduate Fellows Program is designed as a pre-professional fellowship experience offered to high-achieving minority undergraduate students interested in pursuing a career in higher education.The goals of the program are to provide participating students with the knowledge, insight and understanding of the opportunities available in student affairs and higher education; to provide opportunities for students to engage in mentoring and networking experiences; and to provide experiences working in student affairs and higher education.
The program is comprised of three main components: participation in a one- or two-year campus-based internship or field work experience under the guidance of a mentor; participation in a Summer Leadership Institute designed to enhance leadership and problem-solving skills; and participation in an eight-week paid Summer Internship designed to encourage the development of future student affairs and higher education administrators.
Ethnic minority students (Native, African or Asian American, or Hispanic) who have completed their sophomore year and have demonstrated academic promise are encouraged to apply.
Fellowship applications will be available at the information sessions. Completed applications must be submitted to the Office of the Vice President of Student Affairs, 306 Steele Hall, by 4 p.m. on March 29.
