While home in Chicago for semester break, Syracuse University senior Colleen Hendricks watched television news reports of the devastation caused by the Dec. 26, 2004 tsunami in the Indian Ocean region.
"I felt so bad for the people who were affected by the tragedy," she says. As a music industry major in SU's College of Visual and Performing Arts, she turned to her expertise in concert promotion as a way to help raise money to aid the tsunami victims.
Hendricks has organized a Tsunami Benefit Concert, which will take place on Friday, Feb. 25, from 7-10 p.m. in SU's Hendricks Chapel. Admission is free, but donations will be accepted to benefit the American Red Cross through SU's Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund. Free parking will be available in the Irving Garage.
The concert will feature a number of local and homegrown bands and a variety of music. Performing bands will include ROTHKO, Sundae Crush, Curbside and The February, among other musical acts.
