Syracuse University's L.C. Smith College of Engineering and Computer Science (ECS), the Alpha Omega Epsilon (AOE) engineering sorority and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) will host "Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day" on Friday, Feb. 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The day's events will begin in the Schine Student Center with a light breakfast and introductions at 9:15 a.m. Students will participate in a series of small group activities and ECS lab tours accompanied by members of AOE and SWE.
Michelle Tomlinson '97, G'98, senior vice president of member services with JP Morgan Chase in New York City, will speak on "We've Come a Long Way, Baby" at 1 p.m. in The Underground in the Schine Student Center. Students will then participate in a Mousetrap Car competition at 1:45 p.m., and a closing celebration at 2:45 p.m.
"Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day," part of the college's E-Month celebration, is targeted for students in sixth to 10th grade; 11th and 12th-grade students are also welcome to participate.
