The School of Social Work in Syracuse University's College of Human Services and Health Professions will host a daylong workshop on "Relationship Issues in Family Life and Ways to Approach Them," Feb. 11 at the Goldstein Student Center on South Campus. Members of any family have a strong influence on one another. Through their relationships, family members become interdependent in ways that they may not even be aware of. Feelings and expectations of one another contribute to the behavior and emotional well being of all members. This workshop will suggest approaches to understanding these issues and ideas for working with families. Participants will have an opportunity to present their own work and join in role-play situations.
The workshop presenter is social worker Ona Cohn Bregman, who is retired from the School of Social Work faculty. She has a private practice in systems psychotherapy, supervision and consultation. Her special interests are family systems, variation in human behavior and the neurobiology of emotion. The workshop is co-sponsored by the Study Council at SU's School of Education.
The College of Human Services and Health Professions brings together Syracuse University's professional programs in Child and Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nursing, Nutrition and Hospitality Management, and Social Work in an environment of cross-disciplinary teaching, research, practice, and service.
