Syracuse University's Office of Multicultural Affairs will showcase the nationally acclaimed cultural exhibit, "We Represent Dreams Fulfilled" to University students and the Syracuse community on Feb. 1. The exhibit will be on display from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in Rooms 304A, B and C of the Schine Student Center.
This multimedia presentation pays tribute to African Americans who have made significant accomplishments through their noteworthy and historical innovations in such areas as science, medicine, computer technology, aerospace communication, transportation and engineering.
"The exhibit offers students, faculty, staff and the community at-large an opportunity to experience a national exhibit chronicling the achievements of African Americans whose inventions have enhanced the quality of life as we know it today," says James K. Duah-Agyeman, director of the Office of Mulitcultural Affairs. "This exhibit is an inspirational tribute to black inventors who overcame adversity and racial barriers and made great strides to advance science, technology and society."
With over 150 authentic inventions represented in the collection, the "We Represent Dreams Fulfilled" exhibit is designed to promote racial pride and understanding, and inspire learning for all age groups and ethnicities. The collection includes patent designs, personal letters, rare photographs and brief biographies of African American and Hispanic American inventors.
