"If your vagina got dressed, what would it wear?" is just one of the frank questions posed in Eve Ensler's award-winning play "The Vagina Monologues, " made famous nationwide for its candid talk about vaginas and violence against women.
The play, sponsored by the Dean of Students Office and Students Advancing Sexual Safety and Empowerment (SASSE), will once again be performed at Syracuse University as part of the V-Day International College Campaign to end crimes against women and girls.
Performances will be held in Hendricks Chapel, Feb. 11-12 at 8 p.m. Tickets are $8 for students and $10 for the general public, and can be purchased at the Schine Box Office. Parking is available in the Irving Garage.
A matinee performance will also be held Feb. 12 at 3 p.m. in SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry's Marshall Auditorium. Tickets for this show will be available in the Marshall Hall Foyer. Parking is available near the ESF campus and the Carrier Dome.
Proceeds from the shows will benefit Syracuse's Chadwick Residence, Vera House/Rape Crisis Center, Planned Parenthood of the Rochester/Syracuse Region and the SU R.A.P.E. Center. Last year SASSE donated almost $10,000 to these local charities.
SASSE is a student-run, non-profit organization on the SU and ESF campus whose aim is to promote awareness of women's issues and to end worldwide violence against women and girls. The SU chapter of SASSE is one of more than 800 college and university groups worldwide participating in the V-Day College Campaign.
