Christopher Phillips, author of "Socrates Cafe: A Fresh Taste of Philosophy" and "Six Questions of Socrates," and co-founder of The Society for Philosophical Inquiry, will facilitate a Socratic dialogue, "Looking Within: A Socratic Symposium on Soul," Feb. 14 in Syracuse University's Goldstein Alumni and Faculty Center. The symposium, as part of the inaugural year exploration, "Exploring the Soul of Syracuse: University as Public Good," will run from 4-7 p.m.; it is free and open to the public.
The event is presented by the SU Library in conjunction with the College of Visual and Performing Arts, The College of Arts and Sciences and Hendricks Chapel.

The event is being held in the spirit of the ancient Greek meaning of "symposium"-a convivial meeting for conversation and intellectual entertainment. In this spirit, the University campus and local community members are invited to join together in an invigorating Socratic dialogue on "What is Soul?" accompanied by food and beverage. The Rev. Thomas V. Wolfe, dean of Hendricks Chapel, will offer introductory remarks.
"University as Public Good: Exploring the Soul of Syracuse," is the yearlong exploration designated by Chancellor Nancy Cantor to engage the University and its extended communities in the exploration of "soul."
