The School of Social Work in Syracuse University's College of Human Services and Health Professions will host a daylong workshop on "The Power of Program Evaluation" on Dec. 8 at the Goldstein Student Center on South Campus.

The workshop will examine the role of needs assessment and program evaluation in organizational and community contexts. Participants will be able to reflect on the multiple perspectives from which evaluation questions can be defined and the logic that underlies program activities and outcomes. Participants are invited to bring examples of evaluation questions from their own settings to use as application pieces throughout the day.
Karen Kirkhart, professor of social work, will lead the workshop. She currently teaches program evaluation and clinical practice evaluation in the School of Social Work's MSW program and has done evaluation consulting and training at local and national levels.
The workshop is co-sponsored by the Study Council at SU's School of Education.
The College of Human Services and Health Professions brings together Syracuse University's professional programs in Child and Family Studies, Marriage and Family Therapy, Nursing, Nutrition and Hospitality Management, and Social Work in an environment of cross-disciplinary teaching, research, practice, and service.
