Israeli artist Mordechai Beck will present a slide show and discussion of his biblical art at 4 p.m. Dec. 5 in Syracuse University's Hall of Languages, Room 211. The discussion is presented by the Judaic Studies Program in SU's College of Arts and Sciences and is free and open to the public.
Beck studied art in London and now lives in Jerusalem. His work has been exhibited in Israel, the United States and the former Soviet Union and is part of the permanent collection of New York City Public Library and of many private collectors. Beck's artwork is focused on etchings, linocuts and woodcuts. He has also experimented with lithography and screen-printing.
His most well known works are "The Book of Jonah" etchings, "Ushpizin" prints and "The Song of Songs" linocuts, which are all owned by the Library of Congress in Washington, D.C.
