Pianist Fred Karpoff, associate professor in Syracuse University's Rose, Jules R. and Stanford S. Setnor School of Music, will present a solo recital Jan. 25 at 8 p.m. The performance, part of the Setnor Tuesday Night Concert Series, will take place in the Rose and Jules R. Setnor Auditorium, located in Crouse College.
The concert will feature works by seminal German romantic composer Robert Schumann. The program consists of the five "Albumblatter" from "Bunte Blatter, Op. 99;" "Davidsbundlertanze, Op. 6;" and "Symphonic Etudes, Op. 13."
Karpoff, a graduate of the Peabody Conservatory, has performed throughout North America and across Europe and Africa. He has played at the Rutgers Summerfest and the Skaneateles, Ravinia and Siena, Italy music festivals. Karpoff is a former artistic ambassador for the United States Information Agency and has presented master classes on collaborative pianism and piano technique at universities, festivals, music teachers' associations and conventions in 15 states. His recording, "Heroic Tales: Piano Music of Edward MacDowell" was released in December 2003 on the sonatabop.com label.
The recital is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Irving Garage.
