Syracuse University to hold Jan. 21 candlelight vigil for tsunami victims

Syracuse University will host a candlelight vigil on Friday, Jan. 21, on the steps of Hendricks Chapel to remember the victims of the Dec. 26, 2004, tsunami that devastated several countries in the Indian Ocean region.

The vigil will begin at 5:15 p.m., and all members of the Syracuse University, SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and greater Syracuse communities are invited and encouraged to participate. Free parking will be available in the Irving Garage.

Individuals who wish to contribute to the SU Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund may send checks to Hendricks Chapel, Syracuse University, Syracuse, N.Y., 13244. Checks may be made payable to Hendricks Chapel, and donors should clearly designate on the memo line that the donation is for the "SU Tsunami Disaster Relief Fund." All funds collected will go to the Red Cross to aid victims of the tsunami disaster in affected areas.
