An open discussion among the chairs of the four SPIRE committees will be held on Nov. 10 at 3:30 p.m. in the Kilian Room, Room 500 of the Hall of Languages. The discussion, which is open to the University community, will be moderated by Ben Ware, vice president for research and computing. The forum will be followed by an audience question-and-answer period and a wine and cheese reception.
Each of the SPIRE committees has recently submitted proposals to Vice Chancellor and Provost Deborah A. Freund outlining specific projects and courses of action. The SPIRE chairs will use the Nov. 10 event to provide details about these proposals and to talk about how they will promote interdisciplinary activity and create new research and learning opportunities.
Panel participants will present overviews and updates of what has been accomplished to date by their SPIRE committees and compare their progress and future activities. Freund will also share her observations about the progress and direction of the SPIRES within the framework of the Academic Plan.
