SU students interested in the Middle East have a number of student abroad programs to choose from, including the Muslim cultures program at SU London and exchange programs at Bogazici in Instanbul, Turkey and the American University in Cairo, Egypt.

SU Abroad consistently ranks among the highest quality international education programs in the United States. More than 2,000 students from both Syracuse University and colleges across the country study abroad with SU every year.  SU Abroad programs foster scholarship in action through a combination of world travel, academic excellence, internships, and community collaboration.  Syracuse University offers many opportunities for students to spend time studying and experiencing the culture of the Middle East.

In addition to other centers in Beijing, Florence, Hong Kong, London, Madrid, Santiago and Strasbourg, Syracuse University currently operates the SU Istanbul Center at Bahçeşehir University in Istanbul, Turkey.
 
Students may also study in other Middle Eastern institutions of education through the World Partners program. Among the institutions from the 20 additional countries available to SU students through the World Partners program are American University in Beruit, AMIDEAST Program in Morocco, Tel Aviv University in Israel, Bogacizi University in Turkey and American University in Cairo, Egypt .

Israel 

Undergraduate and graduate students have a number of opportunities for studying in Israel. In addition to Tel Aviv University, students can take classes at Ben-Gurion University and Tel Aviv University and by going through Syracuse University Abroad.

The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and the Lauder School of Government of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC), Herzliya, Israel offer an academic collaboration including faculty and graduate student exchanges. For more information, click here.

Palestine

The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs and An Najah University in Nablus, West Bank have partnered to facilitate academic cooperation and promote mutual understanding. In preparation for establishing a formal framework for future activities, both partners will encourage units to explore the feasibility of activities such as student exchanges and faculty exchanges for instruction, research, lectures, and discussions that mutually benefit both institutions.

Summer Immersion in the Middle East

SU Abroad offers a myriad of opportunities for students to spend a summer immersed in the cultural and educational offerings of other countries and regions of the world. Two such opportunities are in the Middle East.

• Examining Foreign Policy in Israel and the Middle East

• The Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs in partnership with The Lauder School of Government of the Interdisciplinary Center (IDC) in Herzliya, Israel, offers SU undergraduate students an intensive two-week foreign study program. This program provides an unusual opportunity to study with some of the world’s top foreign affairs experts. IDC’s Institute for Counter-Terrorism (ICT) is one of the leading academic institutes and think tanks for counter-terrorism in the world.
