FAFSA Information:
In 2020, the FAFSA Simplification Act was enacted as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2021. The FAFSA Simplification Act represents a significant overhaul of federal student aid, including the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form.
- The FAFSA has fully opened for the 2025-2026 academic year. Students should review the dates and deadlines for more information on submitting financial aid applications on time. More information can be found here.
Department of Education Announcements:
Recently, the Department of Education announced the resumption of collections on federal student loans for borrowers who ceased enrollment since January 1, 2020. This change highlights the importance of addressing your federal student loans proactively. Please review important resources for students about to enter repayment or students who are in repayment:
- Review Your Repayment Options: Visit StudentAid.gov to explore the various repayment plans available. Understanding these options will help you choose the one that best fits your current financial situation.
- Update Your Contact Information: Log into StudentAid.gov using your username and password to ensure your contact details are current. This ensures you receive important communications about your loans promptly. You may also take this opportunity to confirm that your loans are in good standing.
- Seek Assistance: Our Financial Literacy team is available to assist you with any questions or concerns you may have about loan repayment. We offer free assistance to current and former students. You can schedule an appointment by emailing our office.
- Understand Your Options if You’re in Default: If you are currently in default on your federal student loans, it’s important to explore your options for getting back on track. Visit Get Out of Default on Student Loans to learn about rehabilitation, consolidation, and other solutions available to you.
