Eleanor Ware

Eleanor Ware
Senior Vice President for Human Services and Government Relations


Eleanor Ware is Senior Vice President for Human Services and Government Relations at Syracuse University. She is responsible for the divisions of Archives & Records Management, Government and Community Relations, Hendricks Chapel, Human Resources, HSGR Information Technology group, Public Safety, and Trustee Relations. The departments within this division are responsible for all materials of enduring and/or historic value to the University; local, state, and federal government advocacy; community relations; campus religious life; all employee matters; technology systems within the division; campus security; and Board of Trustees administrative support. Mrs. Ware also serves as Secretary to the University's Board of Trustees, and is a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet and the University Senate.

Mrs. Ware has been with Syracuse University since 1978. Prior to her appointment as Senior Vice President, she served in the combined position of Executive Assistant to the Chancellor, Executive Director for Government Relations, and Secretary to the Board of Trustees. Before moving to Syracuse in 1976, she was a state certified teacher specializing in early childhood education in the New York City school system.

Mrs. Ware is a member of the board of directors of the University Hill Corporation; NYIEQ, Inc.; and the National Alumni Association of Syracuse University. She has served on the board of directors for Key Bank, the Everson Museum, and the RLS Career Center, and as a member of the Onondaga County Partnership for the Arts, the Mayor's Airport Privatization Committee, the University Neighborhood Preservation Association, and the University Neighborhood Service Agreement Advisory Committee.

Mrs. Ware earned her Bachelor of Arts degree (magna cum laude) from Queens College-CUNY in 1960, where she was also elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She earned an MBA in 1985 from Syracuse University and pursued postgraduate work at Harvard University's Institute for Educational Management in 1988.
