Senior Vice President for Public Affairs

Kevin Quinn joined the University as Vice President for Public Affairs in 2006 and was named Senior Vice President in July 2009. Quinn leads the University's public relations, communications, and government & community relations activities. He works closely with, and reports to, the Chancellor and President and is a member of her Cabinet. 

Quinn is responsible for the University’s Division of Public Affairs, which includes the Office of News Services, the Office of Digital and Social Media, the Office of Publications, and the Office of Government & Community Relations.

Quinn came to Syracuse University after serving as Press Secretary to former New York Governor George E. Pataki. In that role, Quinn was the Governor's primary day-to-day spokesman and spoke on his behalf to national and statewide media outlets on a daily basis. He managed the media relations operations of the Governor's press office and more than 70 state agencies and authorities. Quinn also collaborated in the development of the Governor's major speeches, including the annual State of the State Address and advised the Governor's senior staff on policy and strategic decisions and related messaging strategy.

Previously, Quinn served as Director of Communications for the New York State Division of the Budget, which spearheads New York's $133 billion budget -- the third largest public-sector budget in the nation.  Prior to joining the Budget Division, Quinn was Director of Communications for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, and Director of Communications and Marketing for the New York State Foundation for Science, Technology and Innovation (NYSTAR).

Quinn is a member of the Board of Directors of the University Hill Corporation; a former member of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) Commission on Communications and Marketing; a member of the Board of Trustees of the First Tee of Syracuse Inc.; a member of the development/fundraising committee of the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception in Albany, NY; and is an assistant coach with the Camillus Youth Hockey Association.

Quinn holds a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh and has undertaken graduate studies in communications at the University at Albany.
