Student and Young Alumni Advisory Board

The Student and Young Alumni Advisory Board was formed and charged with the following mission:

  • To help build a sense of "alumni-ism" among young/recent alumni, the student body, the student leadership and individual students.
  • To provide input and recommendations to the Office of Alumni Relations on alumni issues and topics which reflect current student prespectives.
  • To promote alumni and student events
  • To serve as ambassadors to represent the student-to-alumni life cycle.
  • To help create and maintain lifelong connections on the part of students and alumni to the University.

Darren Goldberg 2010 A&S/NEW  (Vice President)

Darren Goldberg, Vice-President, is a Senior dual-majoring in Television/Radio/Film through the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, and Political Science through the College of Arts and Sciences. In addition to his role on this board, he serves as President of University Union, Syracuse University's largest student-run programming organization. Darren was honored with the title of Homecoming King early this year, and looks forward to pursuing a career in television management. He views Syracuse University as one of the most important things in his life and is proud of the work the SYAAB does to help build that same connection with every student who steps foot on this campus.

Gerard Tigue  2011 A&S

Gerard McTigue is a major in International Relations with concentrations in Europe and Intercultural Communications and has a minor in Fine Arts. Although he is originally from Fort Worth, Texas he now considers the Northeast his home away from home. On campus he is on the Executive Board of the Student Peer Advising Program, works in the Renee Crown Honors Program, is a member of Habitat for Humanity, is an advisor for the SUAbroad Program, and is an Associate Producer for the Campbell Conversations radio show at the Campbell Public Affairs Institute. He spent 2009 studying abroad in London where he travelled to many different countries and took international courses in Political Science, Sociology, and Anthropology. He hopes to one day take the Foreign Service Exam and become an Ambassador for the United States to one of the nations of Europe; the dream is Italy!

Cutshall

Charles Cutshall 2007 G'09 MAX

Charles R. Cutshall is an alumnus of Syracuse University, having completed a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations in 2007 and a Master of Public Administration in 2009. As an undergraduate Charles led multiple efforts to collect needed supplies for the West Side Learning Center. Additionally, Charles volunteered with and promoted Meals on Wheels.  For his tireless commitment to affecting change in the community, he was recognized as the 2007 Meals on Wheels Volunteer of the Year. As a graduate student Charles continued to serve as a leader on campus, mentoring students as a GA, as a TA, and as an elected member of the University Senate. In 2009 Charles was the recipient of "The Student Life "Live It" Award for Excellence in Leadership" for his unwavering commitment and dedication to Syracuse University.  

DOUGLAS

Graham Douglass 2010 VPA  (President)

Graham Douglass, President, is a 2009 Syracuse University College of Visual and Performing Arts graduate with a BFA in acting.  Originally from Kerrville, Texas, Graham was a member of a number of campus groups while at Syracuse including, Protestant Campus Ministry, University 100, Orientation Leaders and Remembrance Scholars. During his studies at Syracuse, he had the opportunity to spend time in Florence, Italy, Beijing, China, Los Angeles and, finally, New York City, where he now lives and works as an actor.

Daniel Klamm   2008  A&S/NEW

During his undergraduate career, Dan majored in advertising and sociology. He was a campus tour guide, an active brother of Phi Kappa Psi, and the 2007 SU Homecoming King. Dan believes strongly in building lasting connections between SU and its alumni, and plans to continue his involvement with the University into the future.

McLaughlin

Erin McLaughlin  2007 A&S

Erin McLaughlin (A&S 2007) is currently based in Brooklyn, NY.  Her involvement at Syracuse University was varied and included being a Resident Advisor, Orientation Leader, Remembrance Scholar, President of the Association for Student Elderly Connection and Senior Class Marshal.  Erin's extremely positive experience at SU led her to pursue a Masters degree in Higher Education Administration at New York University (2009). Her involvement with the Student and Young Alumni Board is one way to remain connected to SU while working towards the promotion of a long connection with SU. 

Ryman

Sarah Anne Ryman  2007  A&S

Sarah was a University Scholar for the 2007 graduating class and completed a BA in International Relations and Spanish.  In 2008, Sarah completed a Master of Arts in Geography and International Relations at the University of Toronto.  She currently lives in New York City and works in refugee resettlement at a non-profit.  During her time at SU, Sarah played jazz standards for residents of Rosewood Heights Health Center and frequented Funk n' Waffles coffeehouse to attend live shows.
