Our Time Has Come: The Scholarships

The Our Time Has Come (OTHC) scholarships support African American and Latino students pursuing their undergraduate or graduate degrees at Syracuse University.

In 1987, campaign chairperson David Bing '66 led an ambitious fundraising effort to establish the scholarships and succeeded in raising $1.2 million. Through the generosity of alumni, friends, foundations, and corporations, seven endowed scholarships were established. Today, 20 scholarships support the needs of our talented, enterprising, and motivated students.

In 1996, a new five-year campaign launched to raise an additional $2.2 million. It was part of Syracuse University's $300 million Commitment to Learning Campaign. By the end of 2000, $3.1 million dollars were raised in donations and pledges.

To date, 1,039 scholarships worth approximately $2.35 million have been awarded. For academic year 2010-11, 47 scholarships were awarded to 31 recipients.
