The George Arents Award is Syracuse University's highest alumni honor, presented annually to alumni who have made outstanding contributions to their chosen fields.

During Orange Central 2010 the Arents Award will be conferred on four distinguished alumni at Friday's Reunion Gala Luncheon. The 2010 recipients are Suzanne C. de Passe ′68, Brian P. McLane ′69, Bill Viola ′73, H′95, and Karen B. Winnick ′68. Read more

SU's new recycling program collects cold-shipping polystyrene boxes from campus labs in Link Hall, Bowne Hall, the Life Sciences Complex, the Center for Science and Technology and the Physics Building.

Campus labs give packaging waste a second life

Syracuse University laboratories are keeping one of the most “eco-unfriendly” materials out of the waste stream. The labs recently stopped trashing polystyrene foam, better known as Styrofoam, and instead are now giving the non-biodegradable packaging material a second life through recycling. Read more

Head coach Doug Marrone embraces free safety Mike Holmes after the win against Akron on September 4.

SU football goes 1-1

Junior quarterback Ryan Nassib threw for a personal-best 229 yards on 17-for-27 passing and two touchdowns in his first collegiate start as Syracuse defeated Akron. But despite Nassib's 202 yards throwing and an opening drive touchdown at Washington, the team fell short of its second win.  Read more
