With a charitable gift annuity, you can support SU students and...

>> Receive fixed payments for life
>> Receive a charitable income tax deduction
>> Defer your taxes on capital gains
>> Invest in the future!

Payments are based on your age (or the ages of you and your loved one) at the time of the gift. The gift is a simple contract between you and Syracuse University, and the eventual returns can be directed to the school or program of your choice. It's an easy way to do well financially, and do good for SU students!

Here’s how it works.

Here are two examples of the benefits of creating a $25,000 charitable gift annuity.
For Mary, age 70...
Mary makes a cash gift of $25,000 to Syracuse University.
Based on her age, she receives annual payments of $1,450 for the rest of her life (annuity rate of 5.8%); $1,090 of each payment is tax-free.
She itemizes her deductions, and receives a charitable gift deduction of $7,659 (based on current IRS rates).
After her lifetime, the remaining amount is used to support SU.
For Jim and his wife, Susan, ages 72 and 71...
Jim and Susan make a cash gift of $25,000 to Syracuse University.
Based on their ages, they receive annual payments of $1,350 for the rest of their lives (annuity rate of 5.4%); $1,012 of each payment is tax-free.
If they itemize their deductions, they receive a charitable gift deduction of $5,446 (based on current IRS rates).
With two annuitants, the payments to the surviving spouse continue for life.
After their lifetimes, the remaining amount is used to support SU.

"Attending the Maxwell School during World War II, I came to believe that only through education can we learn to live in peace. A few years ago, I decided to help other students carry on this spirit. I established a charitable gift annuity benefiting my children and grandchildren. I get a tax deduction and a good return, and eventually the gift will help young students fulfill their potential."
