Joyce Carol Oates Lecture

George Arents Awards

The George Arents Award is Syracuse University's highest alumni honor, created to recognize those who are leaders in their fields. Held in conjunction with the Reunion Gala Luncheon, the award ceremony will honor this year's recipients, Karen DeCrow L'72, Samuel V. Goekjian '52, Frank A. Langella '59, Donald G. McPherson '87, and Joyce Carol Oates '60, H'00.

Winslow Homer's Empire State: Houghton Farm and Beyond

Winslow Homer's summer visits to Houghton Farm in Mountainville, New York, marked a crucial turning point in the artist's career. This exhibition of watercolors, oil paintings, and drawings created there is the first to examine Homer's most adventurous work and the beginning of his artistic maturity. Dedication of Ernie Davis Hall

Be there for the dedication of SU's first new residence hall in 40 years, named for SU's legendary number 44. This new nine-story structure offers a mix of room types, as well as lounges and laundry facilities on each floor. The building also boasts a 500-seat dining facility, 2,000 square feet of academic space, and a 10,600-square-foot recreation facility.

'Cuse Commotion

The Homecoming traditions continue with the parade, pep rally, bonfire, and barbecue. It all starts Friday at 5:30 p.m., when alumni are invited to join the students in the parade from the Schine Student Center to the Quad. Enjoy the original banners, floats, and SU spirit. Following the parade, join Otto and members of the football team, marching band, cheerleaders, and dance team for the pep rally and bonfire.

Homecoming Barbecue
