Come home to SU!

phys

Syracuse University welcomes nearly 500 transfer students to campus each year.

Syracuse University considers you a transfer student if you:

  • have earned a high school diploma/GED
  • have enrolled in a degree program at another college or university, and completed at least 12 credit hours.
If you have taken college classes without enrolling in a degree program, or will have less than 12 credits when you plan to enroll at Syracuse University, you should apply as a first-year student.  If you're unsure of your status, we recommend that you contact us at transfertosu@syr.edu.

Please visit our  Transfer FAQs.

Transferring Credits

class

Syracuse University grants transfer credit for courses successfully completed at other accredited institutions or through means described in the "Academic Rules and Regulations" section of the Syracuse University Bulletin: Undergraduate Course Catalog. In general, transfer credit is allowed for courses worth three or more credits where you earned a "C" (2.0) or higher and for which there is a comparable course offered at Syracuse University. Transfer credit is evaluated after you are admitted, and generally, notification of approved credit is sent within two weeks. You do not have to commit to enrolling until you have received your credit evaluation.

Orientation & Support

From the moment you step foot onto SU's campus, the community works hard to make you feel welcome and comfortable at your new home. View the list of orientation events designed for all students, including transfers.  The Office of First-Year and Transfer Programs provides programs and resources that will help ease the transition to life at SU.
