First-year Students
Admission Requirements
To be considered for admission to Syracuse University, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be enrolled in, or have graduated from, an accredited secondary school. If you are a home-schooled student, please review our home-school requirements/policies.
- Standardized test scores are required for domestic students as well international students studying in the U.S. or studying overseas in an American or international school. We accept either the SAT or the ACT with the writing portion. International students should also view our page for international admission requirements.
- We recommend taking a college preparatory curriculum, including four years each of English, science, social studies and mathematics (through geometry and intermediate algebra) and a minimum of three years of a foreign language.
- While not required, you may have an interview with a representative of the Office of Admissions. You may schedule appointments Monday through Friday on campus or on select days at our Regional Offices of Admissions in Manhattan, Atlanta, and Los Angeles. We also conduct interviews in metropolitan areas across the country.
- Admission to Syracuse University is contingent upon graduation from secondary school and a continued record of good citizenship and character. You must provide a final secondary school transcript after graduation by July 31, prior to the fall semester.
