Exploring the City of Syracuse

City of Syracuse

Syracuse University is situated atop a hill overlooking the City of Syracuse. The treasures available in downtown Syracuse are just a short walk, drive, or bus ride from campus. With a metropolitan population of 700,000, Syracuse is a center for cultural, recreational, and artistic events.

As a student at SU, you will get to experience all the city has to offer, including the Syracuse Symphony Orchestra, the nationally known Everson Museum of Art, the Rosamond Gifford Zoo, sporting events, the Carousel Center mall, and festivals such as JazzFest and Winterfest. You may even have the opportunity to take classes downtown, adding an urban element to your education.

The University and city are constantly strengthening their bond. The Connective Corridor initiative is an example of this bond, and is emerging as a cultural development connecting the University Hill and Downtown Syracuse in a more significant way than ever before.

We encourage you to explore the City of Syracuse during your visit to campus. Use the links below to learn more about the city you may soon decide to call home!
