Sherburne "Shere" Abbott is Vice President for Sustainability Initiatives and University Professor of Sustainability Science & Policy. She works with faculty, staff, students, and the wider community to strengthen connections between scholarship and practice and forge new institutional collaborations that create integrated approaches to sustainability and advance the University’s commitment to leadership in sustainability in higher education. She serves as co-chair of SU’s Steering Committee for the American College & University Presidents’ Climate Commitment and provides oversight of the Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems. Shere earned an A.B. from Goucher College and an M.F.S. from Yale University’s School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. She is recognized as an internationally known expert in sustainability and comes to SU after serving in the Executive Office of the President as Associate Director for Environment in the Office of Science and Technology Policy. Kal Alston is Senior Vice President for Human Capital Development. Her responsibilities include academic resource planning, faculty services and support, and academic policy development. She is invested in helping academic units leverage all resources and create fruitful collaborations, inside and outside of the University, to broaden the academic impact on and for faculty and students. She is senior advisor to the Provost and academic liaison to business, legal, and public affairs units in the University. Marilyn Higgins is Vice President of Community Engagement and Economic Development at Syracuse University, responsible for the Connective Corridor and Near West Side Initiative Projects. She is President of the Near West Side Initiative, Inc. Board, a member on the Board of Directors of the Syracuse Center of Excellence in Environmental and Energy Systems, the CNY Regional Alliance, the Morrisville College Foundation, and the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce. Margaret Himley is Associate Provost for International Education and Engagement. She leads the critically important international component of the University’s vision of Scholarship in Action, supporting the global ambitions of the University’s schools/colleges and faculty and students, allowing for greater integration of academic directions and learning outcomes with the operational dimensions of SU’s international programs centered in SUAbroad. Bruce Kingma is the Associate Provost for Entrepreneurship and Innovation and a Professor in the School of Information Studies (iSchool). As Associate Provost for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Bruce leads initiatives at Syracuse University in entrepreneurship and community engagement, including the Syracuse Campus-Community Entrepreneurship Initiative (Enitiative)--a collaborative partnership of six institutions and five community foundations made possible by a $3 million grant from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation and $15 million in matching funding. He oversees The Center for Experiential Learning in Entrepreneurship (ExCEL); the Web-based Information Science Education (WISE) Consortium; The South Side Initiative (SSI); and The Mary Ann Shaw Center for Public and Community Service. Gina Lee-Glauser is Vice President for Research. She is responsible for all of the central resources of Syracuse University that are directed to the support of research, and for the articulation and implementation of all University policies regarding scholarly inquiry, sponsored programs, intellectual property, and research integrity. Gina is responsible for the development of research and research funding, for the administration of grants processing, for the negotiation of research contracts, and for the management of the intellectual property that may be created in the scholarly activity of members of the University community. She administers the University's policies on research misconduct, conflict of interest, and intellectual property. Gina is a key leader in the university-wide initiative for broadening STEM Pathway participation of underrepresented and disadvantaged students. Christopher "Chris" Sedore is the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Operations. He is the senior leader in Academic Affairs charged with ensuring that the division’s central units are both highly effective and efficient, and that the academic schools and colleges and their faculty and students are well served by the Academic Affairs administrative support units. As Associate Vice Chancellor, Chris supports the Vice Chancellor and Provost and his reports with broader academic affairs matters that affect schools and colleges, and collaborates with cabinet members to ensure that operations are finely tuned to support faculty and students in teaching, learning and discovery. Andria Costello Staniec is Associate Provost for Academic Programs. She is the senior leader in Academic Affairs charged with ensuring the quality and effectiveness of academic programs and the academic success of SU students, including the collaborative development of policies and programs that promote instructional quality, advising effectiveness, and student success. Andria's efforts and skills tie directly to the most important priority for the Associate Provost—the creation and maintenance of supportive pathways for a diverse SU student body that will lead to graduation and further success, beginning with a robust and meaningful first-year experience and continuing with close support inside and outside of the classroom focused on retention. Her responsibilities include collaborative engagement with deans and faculty on the development, maintenance, and quality of interdisciplinary academic programs that are aligned with institutional strengths, faculty expertise and interest, and demand, as well as ensuring the continued accreditation of the University and its academic programs, including maintenance of New York State, Middle States and disciplinary accreditation. Patricia Stith is the Assistant Provost for Equity and Inclusion, supporting students in graduate programs across the University—with a special focus on doctoral students from underrepresented groups. Before coming to Syracuse, Stith was Director of Retention Studies at Florida State University, a position she held for 17 years. She has also directed and coordinated several National Science Foundation projects designed to promote increased participation of underrepresented minorities in the STEM disciplines. Patricia earned a B.A. in History from Norfolk State College, a Master’s in History from Carnegie-Mellon University, a Master's in Instructional Technology from Syracuse University, and a Ph.D. in Instructional Systems at Florida State University.
