Mathew Maye, an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry, is one of 100 scientists named as recipients of the Presidential Early Career Awards for Scientists and Engineers. It is the highest honor given by the U.S. government to young professionals in the early stages of independent research. May will receive his award at the White House this fall.

Now in its ninth year, University Lectures maintains its tradition of bringing to the Syracuse University campus some of the most influential movers and shakers from around the world for the 2009-10 season. Eight distinguished speakers have been invited by University Lectures this year to educate and inspire in the areas of human rights, advocacy for children and families, storytelling; media production, sustainability, journalism and reporting, and the beauty of poetry.
